METEOROLOGY BATCH

Indian Air Force has a separate branch for weather analysis – an important factor for safe flying. Officers of IAF meteorology branch do have great amount of responsibility on their shoulders while serving in the Indian Air Force. Here is the IAF meteorology branch notification for recruitment of officers with complete eligibility criteria. There are two courses offered by the IAF for candidates who want to become meteorology officers.

Meteorology Branch is a one of the ground branch in IAF and it is not covered
under AFCAT. Under Meteorology Branch entry recruitment is done for Permanent
Commission and Short Service Commission. Online applications for this branch are
being invited twice in a year. The advertisement for the same is published in the
months of Jun and Dec.

Batch and Course number
  • Permanent Commission – 202/18G/ PC/M is only for male candidates. The candidate can serve in the organization till the age of superannuation.
  • Short Service Commission – 202/18G/ SSC/M & W is for both male and female candidates. The candidates have to serve 10 years in the organization and then 4 years extension will be given to them on the basis of their willingness, eligibility for certain services and vacancies.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :

  • Passed Higher Secondary Examination.
  • Post Graduate Degree in any Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology/Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Computer Applications & Environment/ Geo-physics/ Environmental Biology with the minimum of 50% marks in all papers.
